Color scheme for Spring Summer 2017

My watercolour scheme for textile print collections Spring Summer 2017.

Before to start to work on my original drawings for new print collection, I create the scheme of colours which I use for my artwork. Working with liquid media for pattern designs is not simple to use always the same shades of exact colours. In the middle of creative process, it helps me to stay focused, if I have my own interpretation of Pantone colours in front of my eyes. Whenever I need it!

Hope it will give you an idea how to start to work on gemstone drawings with colours. Enjoy the process!

Creation of Watercolor Prints for digital printing on a silk fabric for Land Kay

Me and Land Kay would like to share the process of our women clothing creation with watercolour prints. Just as every gemstone or flower is original and unique, as are the Land Kay prints. Each of them is created by my hand, and every small detail is carefully thought through and drawn with watercolours. It is a time-consuming and complicated process. Working on it I can combine my both passions: watercolour drawings and textile design.

We would like to share with you a short but very pleasant video which reflects a closer look on a drawing process and ready fabrics. I do my watercolour paintings for Land Kay first on a paper then scan it and work on a digital version of print in Photoshop and only after it our team send our prints to manufacturer to transfer drawings on a high quality silk or cotton fabrics. In this video you can see that colours and watercolour effects are remain the same on a fabrics, which are very soft and gentle to touch after a digital printing. Very important moment that all these fabrics and clothing are wearable and washable in a delicate cycle.
Meanwhile every brushstroke and watercolour touch are unpredictable even for me, I paint more than 20 years :) I'm happy to see my drawings not only on a paper but on clothing, are living a different life! It's amazing!

5 things Fashion Illustrator cannot live without / Working space of a Fashion Illustrator

Hello! My name is Irina Kaygorodova and I am a Land Kay creator.
Also I am a Fashion Illustrator, Textile Print Designer and Art Educator.

These are five things I can’t live without when drawing.

My watercolour set (1) includes liquid colours, ink and ink pens, a bunch of synthetic and natural brushes, palettes, watercolour markers, and waterbrushes. My watercolour box has remained the same since I was at university studying art in Russia. Slowly colour palette in my set evolved from natural shades to bright saturated colours, which are necessary for fashion illustrations.
